Students reach out hands to pet a goat in an outdoor pen

How much better does ice cream taste when you make it yourself? What’s the best part about running a ranch? How do you get a goat to use its best manners? Students will answer these questions and many more, as Buncombe County Schools hosts Summer Agriculture Camp July 7 - 10.

The free camp is designed for currently enrolled BCS students who will be entering 5th through 8th grades. It will be based at BCS Central Services at 175 Bingham Road, Asheville, and will feature special human and animal visitors. Students will also travel to destinations including Cataloochee Ranch and Worley Flower Farm.

“We’re excited to offer our students a chance to explore agriculture careers and discover what’s available in our area,” said Michele Smith, BCS Director of Career and Technical Education. “When these students get to high school, they can take courses that will help prepare them and provide real-world experience.”

The camp will run from 8:30am - 2:30pm each day, and breakfast and lunch are provided. Space is limited. Click here to register and reserve your student’s spot.
