Pisgah Elementary Library Media Center
Mission
The mission of the Pisgah Elementary Library Media Center is to prepare students for life-long learning, informed decision making, a love of reading, and the use of information technologies.
The library program strives to implement the following standards set forth by The American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
Standards for the 21st-Century
Learners use skills, resources, & tools to:
Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge.
Draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge.
Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society.
Pursue personal and aesthetic growth.
Circulation
Books circulate for one week. During the weekly class visit, kindergarten through second grade students may borrow 1 book. Third and Fourth Graders may borrow 2 books.
If a student forgets their library book on their scheduled day they may return it the next day and borrow a new one then.
Media Center Staff
Mrs. Davis
Mrs. Davis, has an undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Asheville in Psychology with K-6 Certification in Education. She taught grades 2, 3 , and 4 at Pisgah for the first seven years of her teaching career. She then acquired her masters degree (Master of Library and Information Science) from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and has continued her teaching career as media specialist at Pisgah for the past 19 years.
