🎤👑 North Buncombe High School (NBHS) is proud to host its first-ever MR. NBHS pageant on Saturday, June 7 at 6 p.m., a student-led spectacular filled with talent, dancing, and heartfelt community impact.

What started as a fundraiser for the NBHS men’s basketball team’s December tournament in Orlando quickly grew into something more: a night of giving back. Inspired by a similar event at West Henderson High, Family Consumer Sciences teacher Anita King teamed up with students, staff, and DECA advisor Allison Garrett to bring the vision to life. The event will feature an opening dance number, talent performances by 21 student contestants, “dynamic duo” dances, and hilarious awards like “Mr. Money-Maker,” “Mr. Congeniality,” “Mr. Legs,” and “People’s Choice.”

“The show will be student-led, in that they will be stage managers, sound and lighting operators, ticket takers, emcee's, choreographers, and obviously contestants,” Ms. King said.

While 50% of the proceeds will help the basketball team get to Orlando, the other 50% will go to a family of five in the North Buncombe District who lost everything during Helene, including their home.

“I’m proud that we’re going to be helping our neighbors,” said Tripp Switzer, junior class president and basketball player. “It’s going to be fun and funny while raising money for a good cause.”

🎟️ The show will take place on June 7 at 6 p.m. at the NBHS auditorium, located at 890 Clarks Chapel Road. Tickets are $10 and available online or at the door.
